For illustrated directions on making wrapped loops, check out our page on wrapped loops.
1. Pull several feet of thread off the spool and cut. Tie thread onto the wrapped loop using an overhand or square knot. You may want to add a drop of Hypo-cement or clear nail polish to keep your knot from fraying
Tip: Leave enough of a tail that you can knot it again at the end of the project.
2. Add 17 of the 15C-27 seed beads. I found between 15-20 beads was a good range for these tassels.
3. Add one 15-1310 seed bead. This will act as a stopper bead at the tip of each piece of fringe.
4. Go back through all the 15C seed beads going back towards your wrapped loop. DO NOT go back through the single 15/0 at the tip of your strand.
5. Pull tight. Make sure there is no extra thread showing.
6. Pass your needle and thread through the loop of wire before starting your next fringe. Repeat steps 2-5, always passing through the wire loop in between strands.
7. Continue in this way. Do not over tighten the strands or they will become too stiff. It's okay if they go in every direction as the bead cap will hold them in place.
8. Continue until you have 13 strands on the tassel.
9. Knot the two threads together and glue the knot. String on your bead cap and one 8/0 seed bead from the mix.
10. Make a wrapped loop and trim excess wire. Use your 8-Mix-17 to create a necklace or bracelet to go with your tassel. Make two more tassels and create matching earrings!
