Denali Summit

1. Begin with four feet of thread. String on fourteen Miyuki 1.8mm Square beads (SB18). Slide the beads to the far end of the thread leaving a tail of approximately one foot.

2. Moving from left to right pass back through the second to last SB18 bead on the needle end.

3. Pull to secure. This begins ladder stitch.

4. Moving from left to right pass through the next SB18.

5. Pull tight to secure.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all fourteen SB18 beads are ladder stitched together.

7. Loop through the last two SB18 beads in the row to reinforce.

8. String on two SB18 beads to start row 2 and begin Brick stitch.

9. Moving from left to right, pass under the thread bridge between the second and third SB18 beads (in row 1).

10. Turn and pass up through the second SB18 in row 2.

11. Turn to the left and pass down through the first SB18 in row 2. Pass under the thread bridge between the first and second beads in the row 1.

12. Pass back up through the first SB18.

13. Follow the thread path from steps 9 and 10 and exit the second SB18 in row 2

14. String one SB18. Pass under the thread bridge between the third and fourth beads in row 1. Pass back up through the SB18.

15. Repeat step 14 until there are thirteen SB18 beads brick stitched in row 2.

16. Moving from right to left repeat steps 8-11 to begin row 3.

17. Repeat steps 12 and 13.

18. Continue in brick stitch across row 3 until there are twelve SB18 beads in total. As each row decreases a pyramid shape will start to form.

19. String one SB18, two Miyuki 15/0 seed beads, and one SB18.

20. Begin row 4 by repeating steps 8-11, treating each SB18 and 15/0 bead sitting above it as one unit.

21. Repeat steps 12 and 13 still treating each pair of SB18 and 15/0 beads as one unit.

22. String one 15/0 bead and one SB18.

23. Repeat step 14 passing up through both the SB18 and 15/0.

24. Repeat steps 22 and 23 to the end of the row. There should now be eleven sets of SB18 and 15/0 beads making up row 4.

25. Brick stitch ten SB18 beads to complete row 5.

26. Brick stitch nine sets of SB18 and 15/0 beads to complete row 6.

27. Continue to brick stitch SB18 beads with each row decreasing by one. Finish row 13 with two SB18 beads at the pyramid's tip.

28. String seven 15/0 beads.

29. Pass down the left SB18 in the top row, then up the right SB18. Repeat again to reinforce the loop.

30. After reinforcing the loop, pass down through all of the beads on the pyramid's left edge. Exit the last SB18 on the left in row 1.

31. Begin to build the earring's fringe. String alternating one 15/0 bead and three SB18 beads. Repeat until there are five sets of SB18 beads. String one 15/0 bead and one 3mm Fire Polished bead (FP). Begin the 15/0 and three SB18 pattern again until there are five additional sets.

32. Pass up through the SB18 on the right edge of row 1 then down through the next SB18 to the left. With the loop secured make sure the 3mm FP is sitting evenly in the center.

33. Repeat step 31 with four sets of SB18 beads on either side of the 3mm FP bead. Secure by passing up through the second SB18 from the left in row 1 and down through the third.

34. Repeat the beaded loop pattern with three sets of SB18 beads on either side of the 3mm FP bead. Secure as before.

35. Repeat the beaded loop pattern with two sets of SB18 beads on either side of the 3mm FP bead. Secure as before

36. Repeat the beaded loop pattern with one set of SB18 beads on either side of the 3mm FP bead. Secure as before.

37. Pass up through the next SB18 to the left in row 1. Continue up through rows 2 and 3.

38. Anchor the thread by following the thread paths in a figure eight pattern. Sew in and trim any loose thread tails.

39. Attach an earwire to the loop of 15/0 beads at the top of the earring.
