I am a self taught beader (well with lots of help from all those wonderful books that have been written). It seems as though I was born with a needle and thread in my hand. It's always been gratifying to me to hold some sort of textile between my fingers. I grew up sewing, and later became interested in embroidery and cross-stitch. I was always fascinated with pieces that had beading on them.

As my children grew and began to leave the nest I became interested in making bracelets. I began by doing a few pieces with wire wrapping. Although I love the feel of manipulating the metal I was drawn to beads - all those beads! I began experimenting and was immediately hooked. The beads. The fabric. The thread. A new avenue, with a nostalgic feel. I would have to say my favorite is bead embroidery.

I love starting with a blank canvas and literally watch it unfold one bead at a time. My inspiration usually begins with a natural stone cabochon that catches my eye. But I have used polymer clay or even buttons. Shopping for the beads that will create the piece is always interesting, of course, and part of the fun. I use a variety of beads such as Czech, Swarovski, Miyuki, Toho, natural stones, etc. My favorite thread is Miyuki/KO. I also enjoy searching for clasps that I feel will finish the piece nicely. Sometimes I create a handmade clasp.

I also make wrap bracelets, peyote, and a few needlepoint pieces. That's kind of the idea behind my Etsy shop, I want to provide something for everyone. Not only style-wise, but also something that will fit into everyone's budget. Doesn't everyone deserve to wear something made with love?

When someone purchases a piece of bead embroidery I feel such a mix of emotions. Pleased that someone wants the piece. But a little sad because I put a lot of energy and thought into it, and just hate to see it go.

I do all my beading from my home. I have a whole room devoted to beading. It's a joy for me to go there for a few hours and become totally absorbed in doing something I love.
