Turquoise is a vivid stone ranging from blues and greens to yellows, marbled delicately with blacks, browns, and golds. Historically, this stone has been in use in jewelry, art, trade, and religious artifacts across Ancient Egypt, Chinese Dynasties, Aztec and Mayan culture, Native American people, and more. Turquoise deposits have even been part of treaty negotiations. These semi-precious stones are smoothed chips that vary in size, but are roughly 5mm x 8mm, with a bright blue-green hue.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
