Labradorite is named after Labrador, a Canadian province on the Isle of Paul where the stone was first discovered. Inuit legend states that these reflective stones hold the Northern Lights inside, and that a great warrior of their people struck the stones and released some of the lights into the sky. They call the stone 'fire stone' and believe it has healing properties. They are part of the feldspar family of stones, and their color ranges across all hues, and will change colors depending on lighting and position. These smooth, round beads are 4mm in size.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
