Poppy jasper is a form of quartz layered with silicate and petrified earth deposits that give it a banded or mottled red that is then enhanced with a striking crimson dye. The dye doesn't affect the deposits, creating a beautiful contrast of golds, browns, and ivories with the rich dark reds. The word 'jasper' is derived from the Greek word 'iaspis', which means 'spotted stone'. These beads are smooth, round and 4mm in size
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
