Named for the stone’s resemblance to moonlight glowing through clouds, this stone displays a phenomenon known as “adularescence”- a term coined for the shimmery iridescence that changes as the light moves across it. Moonstones occur in shades of grey, pink, and peach. The most valuable and sought-after moonstones are almost colorless, with a bright blue adularescence. These 6mm beads are smooth and round, with colors varying from white and grey to shades of peach and pink.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
