Odd Count Peyote Stitch
Peyote stitch is one of the most popular and easy to learn bead-weaving stitches.
1. Add a stopper bead to your thread by stringing on one bead and passing through it a second time. This will keep your beads from sliding away from you while you work.
2. String on an odd number of beads. This will become row one and row two of your project.
3. Pick up a bead and pass through the next to last bead from the previous step.
4. Add another bead to your thread, skip over one bead and pass through the next bead.
5. Add another bead to your thread, skip over one bead and pass through the next bead.
6. To add the last bead of the third row, pick up one bead and pass through the first bead from row one.
7. Go through the first bead from row two and the second bead from row one.
8. Pass through the second bead in row three.
9. Pass back through the first bead of row two and the first bead of row one.
10. Go through the first bead from row three.
11. Close-up view for row three turn around.
12. Add a bead to your thread, skip over one bead and pass through the next bead.
13. Continue adding beads by skipping a bead and passing through the next bead.
14. Add another even row.
14. At the end of every row containing an even number of beads, follow steps six through ten.
15. Continue stitching in this manner until complete.
