Purple Iris crystal points are created from a metal-coated quartz formed at a high heat to fuse the elements together permanently. This gives them a particularly lustrous sheen in rich purples and blues streaked with brighter patches of gold. The stones are named after the iris flower which grows in the same colors -- blue, purple, and gold at the middle. The points are drilled through the narrow side to allow the points to hang down.
Semi-precious stone beads are mined all over the world and then are usually cut in China. They will often be dyed or color-treated to enhance their appearance. We select the best quality semi-precious that is available, and try to avoid finishes that are not durable. It is best to assume that some semi-precious beads will fade over time.
