Snake Charmer Cuff

Our hypnotizing Snake Charmer Cuff has bold eye-catching jewel tones, bright dense colors, and a row of reptilian faceted firepolish beads. This square bead bracelet commands attention. Using peyote stitch with 4x4 Miyuki Square beads (SB) you will create a beautiful base that feels amazing against the skin. Once your peyote base is the perfect length you'll use a combination of size 11/0 , size 8/0 seed beads, and 4mm firepolish to embellish this easy to stitch cuff.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

1. Pull about 3' of thread from the spool and leave attached (Because you can work this stitch in both directions you can go in one direction until the thread runs low and then work in the opposite direction). String on 4 square beads.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Directions

2. Add one square bead making sure to keep it apart from the first set of four.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Steps

3. Take the needle and skipping the bead that was just added go through the second bead of the original four.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Tutorial

4. Tighten the thread.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

5. The beads on the loop of thread should stack on top of each other.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

6. Add another square bead and pass the needle through the last of the four beads.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

7. This forms the base row with two beads raised slightly above the other two. As the beads are added they will sit in the lowered spaces like bricks being added to a wall.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

8. Pick up another square bead.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

9. Pass the needle through the closest raised bead.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Tutorial

10. Pull thread to secure the bead into place.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Steps

11. Add another square bead. and pass through the second raised bead in the row.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Directions

12. Tighten the thread, pulling the bead into place.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

13. Make sure your thread is pulled snug at the end of each row to keep good tension as you work.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

14. Continue in this way. If the working thread runs low simply pull several feet off the spool, cut and begin weaving from the opposite end.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Step by Step Instructions

15. Continue to add beads keeping your tension tight and even.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

16. Continue to desired length, keep in mind that the clasp will add about one quarter inch to the finished length.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

17. Once finished, prepare to attach the clasp. Work the thread across the bracelet.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

18. Make sure to follow the path of the beads so no thread shows as you move across. The thread should come out the opposite edge, one bead down from the end.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

19. Turn the needle and go into the top corner bead. The thread should now be coming from between the first and second bead in the end row.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

20. Pass the thread through one of the clasp loops and then into the next cube bead.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

21. Repeat attaching each loop and then moving through the next square bead until the thread comes out of the last bead in the row.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

22. Pull snug. The clasp loops should sit on top of the squares. Do not let the loops push in between the beads or the end of the bracelet will look flared. Repeat steps 17 through 22 two more times.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

23. Once the clasp is attached it is time to add the embellishment. Add one each 11-452, 11-4512, 8-4512, 11-4512, 11-452. Go into the second cube from the end forming a half circle on the edge of the bracelet.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

24. Now add one each 8-4512, 11-452, firepolish bead, 11-452, 8-4512.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

25. Now go through the second square bead down from the clasp, on the opposite edge of the bracelet, to embellish the top of the cuff.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

26. Once pulled tight these beads will form an arch across the center of the bracelet.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

27. Add the same beads from Step 23.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

28. Go into the next square bead down (3rd from the end).

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

29. Once pulled tight this will form another half circle on the bracelets edge.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

30. Repeat steps 24 and 25.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

31. Pull tight to create the second arch of beads in the bracelets center.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

32. Once again add the edge beads to the bracelet.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

33. Pull to secure.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

34. Continue to embellish the bracelet in this way.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

35. Once the end of the bracelet is reached leave the thread coming out between the first and second beads in the final row (right where it needs to be to attach the clasp) double check the finished length as the embellishment can tighten the tension and shorten the bracelet slightly. Fortunately it's easy to add another row if needed.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

36. Turn the bracelet over in preparation of attaching the second side of the clasp.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

37. ***PLEASE NOTE*** If using the slide clasp as shown make sure you are attaching it facing the correct direction to slid into the other end. Always test it before sewing it on permanently as it is easy to get confused and have a twisted bracelet.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

38. Repeat steps 17-22 two more times to fully secure.

Miyuki Square Bead Peyote Instructions

39. Finish and enjoy! This is a fun one to try in different colors, take a look at some of the combinations we came up with or create some of your own (we'd love to see them!).
