Heading back to school means bright colored cardigans, slouchy tee shirts and skinny jeans all calling out for some coordinating jewelry. I like to make a few new special pieces each year. This year I'm thinking of something bold for hitting the books, making new friends, and perfecting that back to school wardrobe.
Having your bases covered with a few key pieces will give you the
perfect canvas to easily change up with your accessories. When
you have two pairs of jeans you feel great in, you can mix and match
any sweater and tee combo. By switching up the jewelry you're able
to have a new look everyday without a lot of effort. Try longer earrings
with a shorter necklace for a smart, classroom-ready look!
I've found that by keeping your clothing and jewelry wardrobe in
order, you'll spend less time getting ready in the morning. A change in seasons is the perfect time to reorganize and clean out your wardrobe and jewelry. Having staple outfits that can be dressed up with accessories will keep you from fussing over your clothes in the morning and give you more time to be classroom ready. We can all agree that when you're
up late studying, that extra 15 minutes of sleep in the morning is
EVERYTHING. So hit the snooze, and still look your best by trying out
these jewelry and organization ideas.
Spend a little time sorting through what you already have. Keeping items together by category allows you quickly shop your wardrobe
each morning. Keep jeans and leggings together. Hang tops in
order by sleeve length. Tank tops, tees, and long sleeves. Then
cardigans and pullover style sweaters. Everything easily mixes and
matches. The less time you have to think about an outfit gives you more
time to prepare for class, eat breakfast or grab a coffee.
Next is the fun part. Store jewelry together by category as well.
Rethink that crowded jewelry box! Nothing is worse than trying to
untangle necklaces in the morning when you have somewhere to be! Store rings in small antique saucers. I love how these look on my
table. You can find so many beautiful little saucers when you're out
thrifting on the weekend. Place bracelets together in a bright bowl, and
hang earrings either in a frame with a screen (I love how these look
hung next to my mirror) or invest in a small earring tree. Necklaces are notorious for becoming tangled in a ball. Solve this by hanging small
hooks or a mini rack next to your mirror. I prefer having all of my
necklaces where I can see them! When you've spent time stringing them,
why not hang them so they're easy to wear and beautiful to look at?
I made two racks with a vintage crackle paint effect recently and they're the
perfect backdrop for my beaded necklaces. Choose a statement earring
with some swing and pick out a short but bright necklace. When everything is
displayed clearly you can grab-and-go. Multi-tasking is key, so having your jewelry at
arms length as you get ready for the day allows you to toss on the
jewelry as you do everything else.
Making a statement as the school year begins is a wonderful way to
express who you are to the world. I like to start the year on a high
note. On days when I'm feeling my best and most confident I'm usually
wearing accessories that express my personality and style. Try a shorter
necklace this fall. Collar bone length necklaces are perfect with crew
or v-necks. Choose a bold colored seed bead and try designing something with multiple strands (beading is the perfect study break!) Chokers are back in a big way and
look beautiful in darker hues for fall. The short necklace/long earring
look is both feminine and cool. I like mixing metallics with bright bold colors beads. Color blocking is a fun way to dress up your basics. Larger earrings are beautiful with a messy bun or pony tail which is perfect and low maintenance for class. No muss no fuss!
Confidence is such an important part of learning. When you look and
feel your best you're able to learn quicker and feel happier. The
classroom becomes a friendlier more enjoyable place. Be prepared and
don't forget to smile!
